Angelina Jolie’s Work Yields New Role to UN Special Envoy
Posted in Latest News on 05/28/2012 07:41 pm by wpadminAs the news of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s engagement is still heating up in the tabloids and celebrity news reports, Angelina earns a new role as a United Nations special envoy as she continues her work for her cause. Soon after the engagement was final, Jolie was spotted in Ecuador last weekend as she met with refugees who were camped along the country’s Columbian border as they had fled from violence in the bordering country.
While this is the 36 year old actor’s third trip to the country, it is her first as a special envoy after her earlier visits in the position as United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees’ Goodwill Ambassador. Jolie is tasked with going in to the refugee areas to assess the situations and then reports the displacement and conditions back to UN officials. As the Beyond Borders star dressed in simple black pants, tank top, and rubber boots arrived at the scene of the camp, she spoke with a 71 year old refugee in the Barrancabermeja village, the location of dozens of refugees that now live there.
