As the crew loads up to leave Charlotte, North Carolina, there are only 13 picks left in men as they travel to Bermuda for the next series on The Bachelorette.
After the guys were briefed on how the next dates would go, the date card arrives and Doug seems somewhat nervous when he learns he is the “one-on-one” pick of the week. While he is ecstatic over getting some alone time with Ems, he is anxious as he knows a rose is on the line and he wants to make a good impression.
When Emily arrives, she can sense the tension in the room before she and Doug hit the road to take in St George and do a little shopping. Doug fesses up that he had simply scolded the guys because they were teasing him about the date. After their nice talk, Ems writes a postcard to Doug’s son to thank him for letting her borrow his dad for a little while. Later the two of them spend some time at a place called the “Moon Gate” where they make a wish for the future.
Emily wishes that she will find love and not be alone for the rest of her life, but puts Doug to the test by asking him what his ex-girlfriend would say is the reason they broke up. Emily starts by offering up some of her own faults which she realizes is not easy as she has put Doug on the spot. She feels like Doug is really just genuine and gives him a rose.
When the next date card arrives, the guys are anxiously awaiting the news about who will get the group date. Charlie, Ryan, Chris, Jef, Sean, Arie, Travis, and Kalon are going on a sailing excursion with Emily for the group date. Once they arrive, the guys are split into two teams and learn that the winners get to spend additional time with Ems as the losers will head back to the hotel alone. Both crews, neither of which have any sailing experience, have a rough time on the high seas, although they both get the hang of working as a team. Unfortunately, the yellow team wins as the depressed red team heads back to the hotel.
As the winning team capitalizes on their prize time with Ems, Jef is the first to steal some time with Ems as she only wishes he would have kissed her on the beach. Ryan was also on the yellow team, but she struggles to wrap herself around some of the comments he makes. For instance, he brings up the fact that he was shocked to see her kissing Arie. Emily takes his approach like he is judging her so at the end of the night, she gives the rose to Jef. While he was s bit surprised that he was awarded the rose, he did admit he was falling for her.
The worst fear of the week, John and Nate will share the double date where the one who does not get the rose will be out of the competition. Off to Diving Board Island, the three jump off some cliffs and Ems has a good day with them both. In the evening they all head out to a private dinner set up in a cave which became more than awkward. Nate opens up about wanting to have kids and gets a bit emotional, while John makes Emily realize he does not need to be the center of attention so she gives the rose to John. See ya Nate!
Emily and Alejandro chat as he promises to show her passion if she will keep him. The guys all think Ryan is over confident and not right for Ems as they encourage Arie to interrupt his alone time with her. Arie obliges them. Ryan is already making plans to be the bachelor if Emily doesn’t choose him, and Doug rubs Chris the wrong way with his comment that he is not ready to be a parent.
As the rose ceremony takes place, Charlie and Michael are the unlucky ones for the week as the remaining eleven lucky men get ready to head to London with Emily.
